AmeriCorps Land Management Position Available

Applications are now being accepted from individuals who are interested in serving at Tar River Land Conservancy (TRLC) as an AmeriCorps Land Management Associate from September 2018 to June 2019.

The AmeriCorps Associate’s primary duties will be to recruit, organize, train and supervise volunteers to build hiking trails at TRLC’s Ledge Creek Forest Conservation Area located in Granville County, NC.  The goal of this 10-month service project will be to open 2½ miles of new hiking trails to the public by spring 2019.

The AmeriCorps Associate duties will also include working with volunteers to create teams to remove invasive plant species, clean up trash, re-seed eroding areas, and install barriers to prevent trespassing on other TRLC conservation properties.  The AmeriCorps Associate will lead on-site guided tours of TRLC conservation properties, which will focus on the importance of land conservation as a tool to preserve our environment.  The member will perform outreach to local schools, community colleges, and youth groups.

The AmeriCorps Associate will receive a living stipend ($13,732), health insurance reimbursement (up to $150 per month), childcare assistance, and monthly professional development opportunities.  Participants who complete the program will receive an education award of $5,920.
