WE'RE
SAVING THE PLACES YOU LOVE IN
PERSON, GRANVILLE, VANCE, FRANKLIN,
WARREN, HALIFAX, NASH AND EDGECOMBE
COUNTIES
Our
region is a beautiful patchwork of farms, forests, streams
and scenic rural landscapes. The land and how it has been
used for generations is a significant part of our heritage
and history. It also provides a quiet escape from the rest
of the world. Residents enjoy a rural lifestyle here, while
visitors enjoy touring local farms and historic sites, canoeing
the Tar River, hunting, horseback riding, and other outdoor
adventures.
Tar
River Land Conservancy protects
the natural and heritage resources that make
our region a beautiful and healthy place to live, work,
play and come home to.
We accomplish our goals by
working with landowners to secure voluntary permanent conservation
easement agreements that protect these resources, which
are so important to our communities at large.
WE'RE
MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Tar River Land Conservancy
is a local grassroots non-profit organization. Since we
were chartered in 2000, we have partnered with dozens of
landowners to secure nearly 150 conservation agreements
protecting over 14,500 acres of land and 120 miles of creeks,
streams and river frontage in our communities. What does
that mean? It means we will all have cleaner air to breath
and water to drink. It means we will all have more opportunities
for outdoor recreation like hunting, fishing, canoeing,
horseback riding, hiking and bird watching. It means the
survival of more working farms and forests that can contribute
to our rural economies. It means that miles of scenic stream
and river corridors, wide rolling landscapes and woodlands
will be protected forever: for our health, enjoyment and
economic well-being.
