CLEAN WATER
Nothing is more important than having clean water to drink.
Since 2000, TRLC has protected over 120 miles of streams
and land along lakes and rivers. Protecting rivers and reservoirs
for the over 1,000,000 people who rely on these local resources
for their drinking water will continue to be a priority,
especially as our area continues to grow.
WORKING FARMS AND FORESTS
Tar River Land Conservancy works with landowners to prevent
the conversion of farmland to development, to protect our
food supply and the production of commodities important
to our local economy. Since 2000, we have protected over
16,000 acres of land, much of which is working farms and
forests.
OUTDOOR RECREATION:
Hunting, fishing and playing outdoors are among
life's greatest pleasures. Protecting our natural areas
will ensure we still have places to hike, boat, bike, fish,
hunt, view wildlife or just enjoy the quiet and peace of
nature. Since 2000, TRLC has added 2,500 acres of public
park land and game lands to our local landscape, and is
working to provide even more parkland and public access
to natural areas.
WILDLIFE:
Our area is home to hundreds of native species, some of
which are found no where else in the world. Tar River Land
Conservancy is working protecting wildlife important to
our natural heritage.
