Winter is tree planting time! Join Tar River Land Conservancy staff and other volunteers to plant hardwood tree and shrub seedlings on a 1,005-acre conservation property located in southern Granville County. Seedlings will be planted near streams to protect drinking water supplied by Lake Holt and Falls Lake. No previous tree planting experience is necessary. Tree planting holes are pre-dug. Wear weather appropriate work clothes, work gloves and hat. Bring plenty of water and a snack or lunch. TRLC will provide planting tools and extra gloves and snacks. TRLC staff will provide instruction on proper tree planting techniques. Bring a camera to take scenic pics along Dickens Creek. Volunteers will park in a grass field at the meeting location. Tar River Land Conservancy staff will shuttle volunteers to the tree planting areas.
