Field Day on the Farm 2018
Saturday, May 5, 2018
11:00 am to 2:30 pm
713 Laurel Mill Rd.
Louisburg, NC 27549
Join us for Field Day at the Allen Farm for the annual gathering of friends and supporters of Tar River Land Conservancy. The 812-acre Allen Farm, located near Louisburg in Franklin County, is owned by TRLC supporters Lucy Allen and Felix Allen. The farm features agricultural fields, managed woodlands, Richland Creek and Sandy Creek, and farm ponds.
This year’s Field Day will feature a catered lunch, catch and release fishing, bluegrass music performed by local musicians, live raptor program, kids’ activities, archery demonstrations, farmhouse tour, and guided nature hike to Sandy Creek.
The guided nature hike will take place after lunch. Hikers will learn about the farming and forestry activities on the farm, the history of the area, and the unique wildlife that inhabit Sandy Creek. For the hike, please bring sturdy walking shoes and any hiking sticks that you might need. We request that dogs, other than registered service animals, not be brought to the event.
The catch-and-release fishing will take place from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Please bring your own equipment, bait, and lures. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
