Spring Nature Hike along Tar River

Join us for an Earth Day spring hike through Tar River Land Conservancy’s Kemp-Baker Tract.  This hike will be led by Alvin Braswell, renowned biologist and retired Deputy Director of the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. Participants will visit this beautiful property along the Tar River.  The hike will be 1.5 miles through the towering hardwood forest that covers the property. Learn about the ecology of the floodplain forests along the Tar River and of the work of Tar River Land Conservancy and our partners to preserve sites like this for wildlife habitat, scenic beauty, and clean water.

Field Day on the Farm 2017

Join us for Field Day 2017 at Mill Creek Farm, located near Oxford in Granville County, for our annual gathering of Tar River Land Conservancy supporters.  The 296-acre farm, located at the confluence of the Tar River and Shelton Creek, is owned by TRLC supporters Barbara and Randy Guthrie.  Field Day will feature entertainment from local musicians, a catered lunch, kids’ activities, catch-and-release fishing, and a guided hike to learn about conservation activities and wildlife.  The hike will include a stop at a cabin along the river for refreshments.
